BUILDING a home is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for most people but, for the builders, it”™s what they do every day. Sometimes, though, a project comes along that is exceptional in every way, from the materials used to the relationship between architect, builder and client. Here, we showcase our selection of finalists in the NSW HIA-CSR Awards encompassing apartments, renovations and custom-built homes from across the state.It’s time to start dreaming. Set within a bushland environment, the house is unashamedly contemporary with a neutral palette of white, grey and black warmed by the use of natural materials such as reclaimed sandstone and timber.The house has been designed by local firm Innovate Architects to focus on the water and the natural landscape and care has been taken to clearly frame the views.Indeed, one of the challenges of the project was engineering the spaces to allow for up to seven-metre-wide uninterrupted openings.Frameless glass was also grouted into the balcony, while a silicone corner glass window was installed.Completed over a 12-month period, this was the first collaboration between builder and architect.
