Two Sydney-based architecture firms have been selected to oversee the $21.8 million redevelopment of the Sutherland Entertainment Centre in Sydney’s south.
After seeking expressions of interest from designers in November 2018, Sutherland Shire Council shortlisted three design concepts.
Chrofi and NBRS Architecture have now been selected from a shortlist of three proposals which were exhibited for comment.
The design proposal intends to modernise the 40-year-old centre with a redesigned theatre, a new foyer, enhanced accessibility as well as a refreshed forecourt and backstage facilities.
The winning scheme was also commended for its approach to the broader civic precinct that includes the adjacent Peace Park, set to become a focal point and “vibrant civic heart” of the project.
