The Maude Residences in Cheltenham could include a nursery in its one-bedroom apartments.

One-bedroom apartments in a Cheltenham development could include a nursery or butler’s pantry.

The unexpected inclusions are being offered to accommodate first-home buyers at the Maude Residences by Steller, though a study has been the most popular addition, according to project sales and marketing director James Cirelli.

“You have a multipurpose space that could, depending on the floorplan, be fitted out as an office space with a desk or a storage space — or it might suit as a nursery for a lot of first-home buyers that want to start a family,” Mr Cirelli said.

“We have had some really strong feedback on those options.”

The main bedroom would be quite a bit larger.

While no buyers had yet opted to include a nursery, they had received inquiries from families for the two and three-bedroom apartments, he added.

Beyond the novel inclusions, demand for the 34-apartment complex was being driven by a superior design which was among the first in the area to fully comply with Better Apartment Design Standards.

The kitchens at the development are designed with a light and bright atmosphere in mind.

“And that has been received really well,” Mr Cirelli said.

“The focus has been to create a more liveable product — and a lot of locals have been interested in it as a result.”

Floorplans have been expanded, with one-bedroom apartments starting at 59sq m and three-bedroom residences topping out at 137sq m.

The Maude Residences embrace indoor and outdoor living.

Large windows and open-plan living spaces designed to interact with outdoor areas are featured in each apartment.

Bedrooms will feature wool carpets, bathrooms a mix of terrazzo and subway tiles.

Stone benchtops, Ilve appliances, subway tile splashbacks and an island bench will feature in the kitchen alongside a living area with timber floors and a minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic.

Location has also been a factor, walking distance from shops and the train station along Charman Rd.

Wide format tiles provide a hint of luxury in the bathrooms.

The architectural design of the complex had also prompted comments from prospective buyers, impressed by its clean design and how it would fit into the streetscape.

“The building doesn’t look overpowering from the street, it’s quite complementary,” Mr Cirelli said.

One-bedroom apartments are priced from $525,000-$610,000, two-bedroom designs are $635,000-$799,000 and three-bedroom layouts are $899,000-$945,000.

A display suite is open at 7-11 Maude St, Cheltenham from 10am-noon weekends.
