Set to become McKinnon’s tallest development, the new Alia project is aiming to take apartment living in the suburb to new heights.
And the near $2 million sale of its full-floor penthouse is the biggest price yet seen for an apartment in the suburb, CoreLogic records show.
Projects by Buxton project marketing director Heath Thompson said the sale showed the complex was already convincing buyers it was top of the class.
“The mantra of the project from day one was to be the best project McKinnon has had, ever,” Mr Thompson said.
“And everyone who has come through the display suite has agreed that we have hit the mark with that.”
Mr Thompson said it was the “little things” that set the BCentral development apart.
Extensive storage in the apartments joins bedrooms big enough for a queen size or king size bed and a pair of bedside tables.
Stone benchtops, an integrated fridge and Asko appliances come standard. A prestige upgrade adds stone to splashbacks and a second carpark, among other things.
Open-plan layouts span anywhere from 75sq m in the two-bedroom apartments up to about 130sq m in the three-bedroom abodes — plus balcony spaces.
The sold penthouse goes to another level, with an almost 200sq m interior and a similar space outside.
“It’s a lot bigger than a lot of the dual-occupancy townhouses in the area,” Mr Thompson said.
The fact the buyer hadn’t been drawn in by the school zone, was a further nod to the development being top of the class, Mr Thompson said.
As the highest residence in the suburb, the sixth-floor abode will have 360-degree views from the bay to the Dandenong Ranges and the CBD skyline. Apartments from the second level up should also have views.
“And there are height restrictions in the area, so nothing is going any higher than this until the planning scheme changes,” Mr Thompson said.
Two-bedroom apartments are priced from $670,000-$900,000, while three-bedroom designs have $1.1-$1.25 million price tags.
A display suite at 181 McKinnon Rd, McKinnon is open by appointment and from 10am-noon Saturday and 11am-noon Sunday.
Projects by Buxton has been recently formed as a partnership between the Buxton and Beller Project Marketing.
