Melbourne-based property developer Pace has now received permit approval for the tallest approved towers in the area and will be the developer’s closest project to the CBD.
It’s the first approval for the Macaulay industrial precinct between Macaulay Rd and Racecourse Rd and adjacent to CityLink, and adjoining the Arden precinct.
The first 4,122sq m parcel of land, designed by Hayball Architects, will comprise of two 11-storey buildings, dubbed Pace of North Melbourne, totalling 146 apartments, with 87 and 59 dwellings respectively.
“Melbourne City Council has re-zoned what was an industrial area and developed an all- encompassing strategy for the Arden and Macaulay precincts, which Pace of North Melbourne has been tailored to fit,” Pace planning and design manager Michael Holah said.
The development will be situated within walking distance from the nearest tram line, Flemington Bridge Station and just a few kilometres from Flemington Racecourse.
The new underground North Melbourne Station, scheduled for completion in 2025, will also improve connectivity and provide the Arden and Macaulay residents with direct access to the CBD.
“The precinct is designed to encourage pedestrian and bike movement, so we have planned for multiple pathways between Pace of North Melbourne and surrounding transport and amenity,” Holah said.
With a number of dedicated bike paths running along Racecourse Road, Flemington Road and the Moonee Ponds Creek Corridor, the development will include a generous 190 bike parks in addition to 159 car spaces.
