The winners of the World Architecture Festival have been announced in Amsterdam.
Judges included Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture president Aaron Betsky, Anuradha Mathur, professor in the Landscape Architecture Department School of Design, University of Pennsylvania and WOW Architects & Warner Wong Design design director Maria Warner Wong.
The prestigious world building of the year was awarded to LocHal Public Library, designed by Civic Architects, Braaksma & Roos Architectenbureau and Petra Blaisse in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
Sydney-based project Castle Cove House by Terroir was voted the best completed house with judges praising the the diversity and complexity of space “shattering the boundaries between inside and out”.
New Zealand project B:Hive, designed by BVN in association with Jasmax, was voted the best office in the world.
The five-level Auckland office building spreads over 11,000sq m and is connected by a lofty atrium with a bold sculptural staircase, which is surrounded by lush greenery at its base.
