It would be hard to beat 64 Delange Rd, Putney, for resort-style ambience.
THE horizontally stacked timber palings that form the columns supporting the deck roof at 64 Delange Rd, Putney, appear to be floating in space.
Simon Harrison from Belle Property Hunters Hill described them as “almost an artistic feature”, one of many highlights in this unique architect-designed house fit for a growing family or downsizers.
The deck is unusual in that it also has a timber ceiling that emits a rich honey-glow and provides a striking contrast to the oceanic blue of the fully tiled inground pool with water feature and (a very roomy) spa – safely enclosed by a frameless glass fence.
The elevated deck is designed for use all-year round. It contains banquette seating, a flat screen TV, speakers and, of course, a built-in stainless steel barbecue with storage and bench space.
A cabana currently used as a home gym completes the resort-style snapshot.
“If you love to entertain with family and friends, you couldn’t do better than this – it’s a 10 out of 10,” Mr Harrison said.
The warmth of the timber decking contrasts with the bold blue of the inground pool and spa with water feature at 64 Delange Rd, Putney.
The first time he stepped inside, Mr Harrison knew he was walking into a house that did not conform to the stock-standard beige formula that characterises many modern builds.
Several old train sleepers have been positioned vertically along the wall in the front entrance void. Their earthy rustic presence offsets a mostly white palette.
Other natural elements have a softening effect. An interior dry stone wall has a gas fireplace at eye line level – almost like a work of art to mesmerise as well as warm the room during the cooler months.
It acts as a counterbalance to a dry wall in a central courtyard that can be viewed from the interior through low-set glass rectangular picture windows.
It goes without saying that the bathrooms and bedrooms contain luxury fittings and finishes such as stone sinks, freestanding bath and suspended timber finish vanities and display storage.
Cool elements are set against the natural softening tones of a dry wall feature in a central courtyard.
The bedrooms all have built in robes and the main a walk-in wardrobe.
Every space throughout the house has been maximised. The kitchen, which flows to the amazing deck through bi-fold doors, has thick creamy Caesarstone benches and modular built-in seating.
It is compact yet spacious, assisted by high vaulted ceilings.
“It’s a custom built house that is classy and unique – in a good way,” Mr Harrison said.
The property goes to auction on Saturday, November 3, with a price guide of $2.6 million-$2.85 million.
