Michael Browning and his wife Elizabeth next to the trophy wall.
This was the home that finally convinced AC/DC’s former manager Michael Browning, to give up his gypsy ways and settle in one place.
It was the northerly aspect of 77 Palmgrove Rd, Avalon Beach that did it, however, the setting by the pool where he is not able to see another living soul also helped.
Now enjoying retirement, Michael has helped some of the biggest names in the Australian music industry, not only managing AC/DC in the first six years of their career, but also signing INXS to their first record deal with Deluxe.
A calming cottage.
Michael and his wife, Elizabeth, also own Avalon Beach’s well-known furniture store, Rust.
“We’ve been here for 15 years. Before this home, we never stayed in a place for longer than two to three years,” Michael said. “We lived a gypsy life.”
“It was the northerly aspect that made all the difference, and I love how I can sit by the pool and watch the palm trees sway, but now it is time to downsize,” he said.
The 1940s three-bedroom home is a multi-level oasis, complete with vine-covered pergolas, secluded swimming pool, and artist’s studio. It goes to auction on Saturday, November 3 through McGrath Avalon and has a price guide of $1.595 million.
Lots of light and a green outlook.
Sandstone and timber feature heavily.
The home exudes an air of a European resort, thanks to its French provincial touches. Through the covered terrace to the upper level is a large, open plan living, dining and family space. The dining area has a wonderful sunny atrium, which feels like you are dining outdoors.
The kitchen is a wonderland with stainless steel bench tops and industrial gas cooking.
The three large bedrooms are also on this level, the main suite with a walk-in wardrobe, ensuite, and balcony.
