JULIE Lawson had walked through many display homes before realising that the tranquil acreage block she had purchased at 12 Gardonia Place, Albany Creek needed a custom-designed home.
“We wanted lots of windows, large bay windows, so we could overlook the gardens and take full advantage of the block of land and the seclusion,” Mrs Lawson said.
The result has been so successful, that window furnishings are rarely needed.
“That’s why we chose this block, you’re in private bushland but you are not far from everything around you.”
That was 26 years ago and Mrs Lawson has since added a swimming pool, two-bay garage, carport, deck and alfresco area to the four-bedroom house.
Merbau timber features in the deck area, and Himalayan sandstone pavers surround the pool.
Inside, the ceiling height is 2.7m, and there is a spa in the ensuite.
With two children and now three grandkids, winter nights have been spent outside, toasting marshmallows around a fire pit at the bottom of the block.
“They have had an awesome time growing up, we even had tyre swings in the trees,” she said.
Mrs Lawson is downsizing to the Sunshine Coast and Sonya Treloar of Ray White Bridgeman Downs will take the property to auction on June 1 at 9am.
