Singer and actor Grace Jones opened it, with a host of stars including Manu Feildel pulling up for a dunk in ‘Australia’s sexiest pool’, and now this exclusive beach resort could be yours.
Renowned for its exclusivity, the boutique private resort Elandra Mission Beach, is now open to offers with no price guide offered — 11 years after “the outrageous and legendary Grace Jones” kicked off its launch party.
The resort prides itself on being a luxury haven that guests go to for privacy and to retreat from the world.
Imagine booking out the entire resort with “40 boutique rooms overlooking the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and across the breathtaking views of the Coral Sea, Dunk, Bedarra, Hinchinbrook and the Family Group Islands”.
Its pool was so ahead of its time it was “voted ‘Australia’s sexiest pool’ by Australian Traveller magazine — and it’s located in the perfect tropical spot, halfway between Cairns and Townsville.
“A tropical sensory overload,” was how agent Stephen Brown of Brown & Co listed it.
“The Elandra has the potential to be run as a boutique lifestyle health retreat focusing on wellness, yoga, meditation or even a secluded and private haven for medicinal rehabilitation or detoxification purposes.”
The furniture includes pieces that are handmade “with bone inlay mirrors, mother of pearl encrusted drawers and wrought iron tables with artefacts from far flung locations including India, Indonesia, Nagaland, Thailand and West Africa”.
He described the grounds as being “more like a private zoo” with cassowaries, wallabies, echidnas, sea eagles, lace monitors, Birdwing and Ulysses butterflies, big white owls and cute little bandicoots who all call The Elandra Mission Beach home”.
Throw into the mix a world class restaurant, private dining rooms, cocktail bar, tennis court, helipad, boutique, library, in room massage and beauty treatments and you can see why the stars loved it. The property covers 6.01 hectares with the buildings a whopping 6,000sq m.
