A WATERFRONT block of land in exclusive Sandy Bay, that is as rare as hen’s teeth.

Harcourts Signature agent Jerome Thiessen said No. 668 Sandy Bay Road hit the market at the weekend and has already attracted strong interest.

“It is the only property like this that I have seen in my lifetime,” he said.

“In this suburb, of this size, with the title to the high watermark and with a boatshed — a property like that is so rare.

“Owning a waterfront property is a Great Australian Dream, but very few attain that dream.

“Here, there is a blank canvas for someone to build something very special.

“Sandy Bay waterfront properties tend to be very tightly held. But to also have the chance to build a dream home, that is an amazing opportunity for a family.”

For many decades, a house and a modest Tudor-style cottage were positioned on this property.

However, following a mid-2016 fire, the house was demolished.

The owner — who has owned the property for 34 years — is ready for a fresh start having reached a turning point in her life.

The block is just nine doors down from Sentosa, Tasmania’s most expensive residential sale.

The block is 1110 sqm and, unlike some of its neighbours, the property has never been subdivided.

From the cottage’s deck, sandstone steps wind their way down to the sand below at Little Sandy Beach.

While there is public access to this almost-private beach, the owner said it was not particularly visible making the beach a lovely oasis.

No. 668 Sandy Bay Road is listed at “Offers over $2 million”.
