IF you think you’re paying too much rent, spare a thought for those living in Queensland’s most expensive rental suburbs.
According to new CoreLogic figures revealing the highest and lowest median weekly rents of 2018, those living in Brisbane’s inner north and outer west have it worse than anywhere else.
The most expensive rental suburb is Pullenvale, about 15km from the CBD, where it costs on average $830 a week to lease a house.
A quick search on realestate.com.au reveals a four-bedroom, two-bathroom house in the leafy suburb is available for $920 a week.
For that money, you get 1ha of lush land in a bush setting, two outdoor entertaining areas, an inground pool and loads of space.
But you can also pick up a three-bedroom home just as nice for a more affordable $595 a week.
The Brisbane suburb where unit rents are the most expensive is trendy Teneriffe, with a median weekly rent of $528 — although you’d be lucky to pick up much more than a nice, one-bedroom unit for that price.
A two-bedder with river views in Vernon Terrace is currently going for $750 a week.
When it comes to saving money on rent, you can’t go past some of the suburbs in Redland and Ipswich.
Russell Island in Redland tops the list, with a median weekly house rent of just $250.
A highset, four-bedroom home is available right now for only $285 a week.
Woodridge is the least expensive suburb to lease a unit, with rent costing $265 a week on average.
A very tidy three-bedroom townhouse is currently advertised for $320 a week.
