Gold Coast buyers are quick to pounce on Currumbin Waters units, latest figures show.
The suburb’s units are the fastest-selling properties on the Glitter Strip, spending an average of just 16 days on the market, according to CoreLogic.
Units in Bilinga, Mudgeeraba and Clear Island Waters are also proving popular, with buyers snapping listings within 26 days on average.
Lagging behind, houses in Wongawallan spent the longest time on the market, taking an average 115 days to sell.
Currumbin houses were also among the Gold Coast’s slowest sellers, alongside units in Hollywell, Molendinar and Runaway Bay.
Ray White Tugun principal John Parkes said Currumbin Waters was increasing in popularity, with its affordability leading to speedy sales.
“The whole mentality around Currumbin Waters has changed,” Mr Parkes said.
“It’s now an area people are driven to and has become a lot more popular overtime.
“It has a very good mix of buyers in the marketplace … and has had a lot of growth over the last 12 months which reflects well for both buyers and sellers.”
LJ Hooker agent Mishy Canning said savvy buyers sought the area out as it offered bang for buck.
“It is still affordable,” she said. “If you put the same sort of unit in Currumbin or in Palm Beach it would double in price.
“The area does offer a fair bit too — schools, more cafes, breweries.
“You certainly get more for your money in the neighbouring suburbs behind the coastal strip.”
The quick sales are going against the grain, with CoreLogic’s quarterly regional market update revealing properties are on average taking two weeks longer to sell than they were a year ago.
The report, released this month, showed Gold Coast houses take an average of 74 days to sell while units spent an average 90 days on the market.
Ray White Mermaid Beach agent Troy Dowker said properties which sat on the market for an extensive period of time had unrealistic price expectations.
“Listen to the market feedback in the first 30 to 45 days because that’s a critical time to make an informed decision,” he said.
“Have realistic expectations from the outset.
“Everything is price sensitive. If a house or unit is perceived as good or fairly priced the product will transact well.”
