The buyers of 8/8 Darling Point Rd, Darling Point, will be in by Christmas.

A penthouse with the lucky address of 8/8 Darling Point Rd, Darling Point, has sold for a big price ahead its auction scheduled for tonight.

“We had plenty of Chinese come through because of the 8 of 8,” said Ray White TRG’s Evan Williams said, who, with principal Gavin Rubinstein, had a $7 million guide.

Mr Williams said the ‘Ascham Gardens’ whole-floor penthouse with huge rooftop entertainment terrace sold for “well over” that.

“It attracted a lot of attention and we had an early flurry,” he said.

Everyone loved the 360-degree views of the city skyline and harbour and the rooftop hydraulic swimming pool and cabana, but in the end it was bought by an out-of-town couple wanting a city pad.

Mr Evans said the four-bedroom, four-bathroom 400 sqm apartment with double garage (484 sqm on title), owned by Neville and Carol Gafen, received offers right through the campaign.

“What we’re finding at the upper end, a lot is selling pre-auction,” he said.

The perfect spot for New Year’s Eve.

And plenty of room for your supplies.

“People don’t want to go to auction and particularly with Christmas coming up they want to lock in a sale and be in there by then.”

These buyers will also be able to enjoy a fabulous New Year’s Eve with their friends at the penthouse, with its impressive views and even a 680- bottle climate-control cellar.

The apartment is full of northern light.

Not a bad view from the kitchen.

The perfect city pad.

And there’s exclusive lift access into a glamorous entrance foyer that leads to a living and dining area opening to a large entertainment terrace.

The chef’s kitchen; all four bedrooms having access to balconies and stunning master suite with spa were also all appealing for the buyers.
