Gregg Hestelow lives on Gardens Hill Crescent, one of the top 10 most searched streets in Darwin over the past three years.

PROSPECTIVE property owners search through hundreds of streets looking for their new home.
But there are 10 that stand out above the rest.
From Mitchell and Smith streets in Darwin’s city to Bellamack’s Flynn Ct, greater Darwin has plenty of popular streets, each with its own personality and advantages.
Gregg Hestelow has lived in Gardens Hill Cres for 13 years and isn’t surprised it is at the top of home buyers’ wish lists.
“The proximity to the city was the biggest thing; it has great proximity to the city and botanic gardens and sporting facilities,” he said.
“It’s a little pocket of nature.”
Gardens Hill Cres provided a quieter option for Mr Hestelow who wanted to downsize when he moved from the northern suburbs.
“It’s not overly built up, so it is close to the city but you are not living among the high rises,” he said.
All About Real Estate listing agent Gabby Sawyer recently bought one of the units next to Mr Hestelow’s home.
Living close to town offered lifestyle advantages second to none, she said.
“It’s so convenient; it’s close to the botanic gardens, close to the city, schools, the golf course and Mindil beach. It’s all there,” Ms Sawyer said.
Nearby Duke St in Stuart Park and Parap’s Salonika Stare also close to the city while providing all the advantages of laid-back suburban living.
On the other end of town, Nation Cres in Coconut Grove, Casuarina Dr in Rapid Creek and Progress Dr in Nightcliff are other popular options connecting the city to the northern suburbs.
Elders Real Estate listing agent Ross Tsounias said Nightcliff ranked with the Gardens as one of the top suburbs in Darwin and Australia.
“I think Nightcliff is one of the best suburbs. You are in between the northern suburbs and Darwin city which in regards to travel distance is fantastic,” he said.
“It’s also green, the blocks are big … it is so close and tucked away on the coastline — you don’t get that anywhere else in Australia.”
