THE first homes at the Port Adelaide development Fletcher’s Slip will go on sale on Saturday.
The first 24 two- and three-bedroom townhomes, in the development’s Sugar Wharf precinct, will be priced from $375,000 and are located near Semaphore Rd, between the harbour and the sea.
The masterplanned project on the former industrial site will feature more than 500 new homes – including two or three storey town homes with backyards, and low-rise apartments – across its 12ha site, with more than 32,000sq m of the development being earmarked as landscaped open space.
Existing heritage-listed buildings will be retained, restored and reused, and the developers, Cedar Woods, are exploring ways to restore and reuse the public spaces’ historic maritime artefacts.
A boat slip will also be restored to provide water access for kayaks and hand-powered boats.
Cedar Woods’ chief operating officer Patrick Archer said the development was attracting interest from a range of buyers including first homebuyers, young families and empty nesters.
“Interested buyers are nearly all owner-occupiers which is vital for building a thriving new community at Fletcher’s Slip,” Mr Archer said.
“Both residents and the wider community will benefit from the investment in public space and greater access to the waterfront.”
Earthworks on the seven-year project will be completed this year, with construction set to start next year.
