A PROSPECT home offers a luxurious family lifestyle, and has been renovated to the point where whoever buys it can simply move in and enjoy it from the get-go.
George and Zita Napier bought the 15 Daphne St home three years ago for their daughter Suzanne. Unfortunately, due to a change in circumstance, Mr Napier says the time has come to sell.
“We live in College Park and this is a home we bought for our daughter who was coming down from Queensland and wanted to be quite close to us,” Mr Napier says.
“We found this place in The Advertiser, as we have done with all of the houses we’ve bought over the years.

“As soon as we walked through, we said ‘this is the house for us’,
and the further we walked through, the more it revealed all of its charm and beauty, because it combines a 1910 build with a $600,000 2011 extension. It’s been done so tastefully and as you move from one area to another you don’t get that jolt of 100 years.
“We planned on keeping it for another 20 years and eventually selling our College Park home and moving in there, but unfortunately my wife has become ill, so our daughter is moving in with us to help care for my wife.”

The home has up to four bedrooms, or three and a study. The master suite has a built-in robe and an ensuite with a separate bath and shower, a toilet and a vanity unit.
A formal dining room and a sitting room are set at the front of the home, while a casual open-plan kitchen, living and dining room sit at the rear. The rear rooms open on to a veranda at the side and an outdoor entertainment area, complete with heating, ceiling fans, cafe blinds, a fireplace and an island bench with a barbecue and an oven. “It’s got a new terrazzo floor with underfloor heating throughout that whole back area and that alone cost $80,000,” Mr Napier says.

“With the log-burning fire in the outdoor area, you can pull the cafe blinds down, turn the underfloor heating on and it’s 26C out there, so you can entertain year-round. And in the summertime you roll those blinds up and it opens up to a magnificent entertaining area.”
The home also has a cellar Mr Napier says is a real highlight.

“That cellar is something else – you can fit about 20 people down there for a nice wine and cheese tasting,” he says.
“The home has everything you could want. There’s nothing else you could want to add to it. You really can simply move in and enjoy it without having to do anything to it.”
Outside, the home has established landscaped gardens, an inground swimming pool and spa, a grass tennis court and a putting green.

“I love the fact that it’s on a double block, and the tennis court we’ve worked hard to get up to an international standard,” Mr Napier says.
“It’s an ideal family home for a professional couple with a couple of kids, and it’s in such a great location. It’s only a few minutes from O’Connell St, but you don’t really have to go there because everything you need is on Prospect Rd, which has become the new Norwood Parade.”
