A BEAUTIFULLY renovated character home, complete with a pool and just five minutes from everything you need – that’s what’s on offer at 50a Fisher St, Fullarton, vendors Cait and Sam Woods say.
The couple bought the return veranda villa in 2009, attracted by its style and location.
“It was a beautiful old light-filled home close to the city and in a great area,” Mrs Woods says.
“It’s got a real warmth to it and I love the way the whole home flows to the outdoors and, at this time of the year, the garden’s starting to look absolutely brilliant.
“It’s really lovely out there and we really enjoy the gully breezes in summer – to sit out under the elm tree when it’s got all of its leaves is just magic.”

The home has four bedrooms, with the master complete with a walk-in robe and ensuite. A formal lounge is set at the front of the home, near a formal dining room with a fireplace, while an open-plan kitchen flows out to a light-filled sunroom at the rear. It overlooks the rear yard, which is complete with a pool.
Mrs Woods says her three children have loved living there and made good use of the pool, often inviting friends over for a swim.

“They can play chasey around the house and they have lots of fun,” Mrs Woods says.
“They love the pool and they started swimming in it in about September – I told them to test the water and they thought it was perfect and they were in. They’ll use it right through to about April.
“It’s brilliantly located because it’s just out the back door, so we really use it a lot because it’s so handy. And with the huge windows that overlook it, it’s great to be able to be inside and watch them as they swim.
“The way the roof’s designed, the pool reflects up on to the ceiling and it flickers in the sunlight and lights up the whole house. But then it’s also magic in winter because you can watch the big storms roll in. It’s spectacular.”

The home also has a double garage with a study and a store room, accessible from the rear yard.
The couple have renovated the home extensively, adding a pool house with a toilet, installing built-in robes in the bedrooms, upgrading the drainage and paving, and putting their own touch on the gardens.

“We’ve really worked hard on this place, and it’s just beautiful living here,” Mrs Woods says.
“The pool house is great, and we’ve got a lot of use out of it because there’s a bathroom right there and a TV, so it’s been the perfect place to watch the Grand Final – right beside the pool, it all flows beautifully.
“The home handles a crowd really well because it’s got that big side lawn area so, space-wise, there’s never been a problem as there’s plenty of room for people to sit along the garden wall and enjoy themselves.

Mrs Woods says the home’s location is brilliant and is a huge part of what drew them to it in the first place.
“Sam and I both work in the city, so we can ride our bikes to work, and we find it’s close to good supermarkets, and Unley Rd is just down the road,” Mrs Woods says.
“Nothing’s far – everything we need is five minutes away, if that.”
Mrs Woods says they are proud of what they have done to the home and hope someone else enjoys it as much as they have.

“It will be sad to leave it because we have some wonderful memories, but it’s exciting to give another family the opportunity to love it as much as we have. We’ve just outgrown it and now we’re on to our next adventure,” she says.
