gold coast sports stars selling gold coast property

Written by The ReReport

Several GOld Coast Sporting stars are trying to sell their Gold Coast properties.

SOME of the Gold Coast’s biggest sports stars have gone on a property selling and buying spree this year, putting their luxury homes on the market and investing their big bucks elsewhere in the city.
See who’s selling, who’s sold and who’s ramping up their property search?

Gold Coast Titans captain Ryan James

Gold Coast Titans captain Ryan James looks to have found a buyer for his Mudgeeraba acreage property that is now under contract.
The 27-year-old’s four-bedroom home features two outdoor kitchens, an infinity edge pool, fire pit and pizza oven.

Queensland Maroons star Daly Cherry-Evans

Still in the rugby league circle, Queensland Maroons star Daly Cherry-Evans has failed to score a buyer for his Gold Coast home, quietly taking it off the market.
The “for sale” sign went up out the front of his Mermaid Beach property in July without a listing price.
Word on the street is the property will be restyled and back on the market by January.
The Manly Sea Eagles halfback paid $1.45 million for the house in May, 2015.
The mega buy was thought to have cemented his move to the Gold Coast.
But just weeks later he reneged on his $4 million four-year contract to join the Gold Coast Titans, opting to remain in Sydney.

Retired Olympic swimmer Sam Riley

Swimming superstar Sam Riley made a splash in the property scene this year, selling her Gold Coast house last month.
The Burleigh Waters property, which changed hands for $1.85 million, first hit the market in January.
It was taken to auction twice by two different agencies before Katrina Walsh, of Harcourts Coastal, found a buyer.
Riley paid $2.875 million for a waterfront property in Palm Beach late last year.

AFL player Gary Abblett Jnr

Gary Ablett Jnr – who left the Gold Coast Suns to rejoin his original club Geelong after last year’s AFL season – sold his Ashmore home in June.
The two-time Brownlow medallist received $1.7 million for his resort-style pad – $100,000 less than what he paid for it in 2011.
The long-awaited deal was done by Ablett’s former Gold Coast Suns teammate Danny Stanley, now a selling agent for Kollosche Prestige Agents.
The riverside 3342sq m property, featuring a four-bedroom house, tennis court and pool area that wouldn’t look out of place in Bali, hit the market in January last year.

Retired AFL player Jonathan Brown

This year the Currumbin Valley home of retired AFL superstar Jonathan Brown sold under the hammer for $3.5 million.
The 2.3ha country retreat features two residences on Currumbin Creek Rd.
Brown, a three-time premiership player with the Brisbane Lions from 2000 to 2014, now lives interstate with his wife and three children.
Property records show the estate was in Mrs Brown’s name and she bought it in 2013.
