After 22 years of enjoying their Middleton holiday home, there’s plenty Jill and Alastair Lea will miss about their seaside retreat – but mostly it’ll be the front row seats to watching whales at play and ever-changing views.

Their 1984-built, glass-fronted home at 48 Seaview Ave, which has an asking price of $1.55 million to $1.65 million, was originally owned by the builder and designed to make the most of the location and stunning vistas.

“The whales and their calves are at Basham Beach between May and October, so it’s right on our doorstep,” Mrs Lea says.

“It is glorious.”

The property, set on 1053sqm, has a 34m frontage, which enhances the panoramic views.

“Because we’re in such a beautiful position, we can see to Port Elliot and right across the coast,” Mrs Lea says.

“We see the changing face of the sea, no days are the same. In the winter it can be quite rough and in the summer we get beautiful sunsets.”

All the bedrooms and living areas within the house enjoy views.

“Their whole aspect is the sea,” Mrs Lea says.

“And there’s a top room that is an ideal fourth bedroom or a retreat, somewhere to escape.”

The Leas have enjoyed the two-storey, three-bedroom home with their now-adult children and grandchildren immensely.

“It’s only an hour and a quarter from Adelaide so we go up for both longer stays and also every other weekend,” Mrs Lea says.

“It’s been the most lovely family retreat.

“We love the walking and cycling track which goes right along the coast.

“We’ve got good choice for eating out. It’s just a great spot all round.”

But with their children and grandchildren now living interstate or overseas, Mrs Lea says it is time to move on.

“It’s very sad, but it’s time we let someone else come and enjoy the spot,” she says.

“We’ve loved the views and the feeling of complete relaxation just walking into the house.

Set across two levels, the home is light-filled and spacious.

The lower level comprises three bedrooms – the main with a large ensuite – a family bathroom, a laundry, and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen and dining area opens to an alfresco entertainment space at the rear of the home, while the living room, which boasts wall-to wall windows, leads to a front deck.

A central staircase leads to a mezzanine offering the fourth bedroom or teenager’s retreat.

Offers close on February 4, at noon.
