As bushfires continue to burn throughout the country, many Australians have been left without homes or belongings.

To help those in urgent need, and those who are heading into bushfire impacted areas to assist with recovery and rebuilding efforts, Flatmates.com.au is urging all Aussies with a spare room or vacant property to open their doors and provide temporary accommodation.

Many bushfire victims have lost their homes and are seeking temporary accommodation.

“Like all Australians, we’ve been shocked and saddened by the scope of the devastation caused by the Australian bushfire crisis,” says Steve Caddy, Executive Manager of Flatmates.com.au.

“While nothing can take away from the devastation caused, we can offer our platform to act as a conduit to help those who may have been displaced and require short-term accommodation, as well as all those on the front line who are actively supporting our communities.”

To do this, new users on Flatmates.com.au simply need to create a property listing and select the ‘Disaster Relief’ tick box on the first page.

Existing Flatmates.com.au users who would like to list their rooms for the victims will also need to create a new property listing and also tick ‘Disaster Relief’ on the first page.

All fees will be waived for those who are opening their homes rent-free and for those who have been impacted by Australia’s bushfires and are seeking emergency accommodation.
