This stunning riverfront house at Chelmer has a raneg of resort-style amenities.
A SUNSHINE Coast resort was the inspiration for the 18 month renovation of this stunning riverfront house in Chelmer.
Owners Jane and Brian Riggall had spent many family vacations at the Twin Waters resort, and it was those memories that helped transform the residence in to what it is today.
“We completed a major 18 month refurbishment of the property to penthouse standard before we moved in in 2012,” Mrs Riggall said.
“We designed the renovations with these memories in mind … so that every day would feel like we were living in a resort.”
The Riggall’s have lived at 27 Sutton St in Chelmer for seven years, but with their four children now adults, the time has come to move on.
Speaking of why they bought the property in the first place, Mrs Riggall said they were a “yachting family” and had previously lived on the river at Norman Park.
“We had been looking for the perfect riverfront, resort-style property suitable for our 50ft catamaran for over 10 years. Then we found this,” she said.
“It’s open, light and breezy, with gorgeous views. We have no neighbours — just a serene, low-stress outlook of the Brisbane River.
“And, it’s only 20 minutes from the CBD, so what’s not to like?”
The couple said their favourite feature of the house was the wooden deck, which was built around the Poinciana and Jacaranda trees and overlooks the river.
It is a spot they often sit with a glass of wine and watch the sun set.
The four bedroom, four bathroom house sits on a 1752sq m double block with 34m of river frontage.
There is a full-size championship tennis court, a large pool, spacious outdoor entertaining spaces, a cabana-style studio and a 12m pontoon with a jetty.
A Japanese-style water feature and footbridge marks the entrance to the resort-style home.
On the ground level, there is a media room and a spacious living and dining area.
The gourmet kitchen has state-of-the-art appliances, a grill and induction wok cooktop built into the double island bench, a wine fridge, and boiling/chilled water tap and an extra-large sink.
There is also a large family room with a fireplace, and doors that open on to the entertainers deck.
On the upper level, there is four bedrooms including the master suite which has a walk-in-robe, spacious ensuite and a private, shaded balcony that feels like being in a treehouse.
There is also a study and family bathroom.
Mrs Riggall said they would miss waking up to the birds singing in the morning.
“Every single day is just like being on holidays,” she said.
The house is listed with Jason Adcock of Adcock Prestige and will go to auction at 10am on November 3.
