655 Huon Road, Fern Tree is listed with Knight Frank at “offers over $695,000”.
FERN Tree, the last suburb of Hobart before you reach the peak of kunanyi/Mt Wellington, is one of the most tightly held spots in the city.
This week there are three properties listed in the suburb, each a substantial family home that is able to perfectly straddle the line between bush and city.
Warren Lashmar is a sales consultant with Knight Frank and he is selling a property that is for sale for the first time: No.655 Huon Road, Fern Tree.
He has personal insight into why the outlying suburb is in such high demand, having spent his teenage years living at the Fern Tree Tavern while his family owned it.
“It [Fern Tree] is a place of great community, good people, and there was never any hint of problems,’’ Warren says. “It is extraordinarily private for most properties.
“The privacy in such a natural setting is something I don’t believe to be available in any other major city in Australia, especially at this price tag.”

Warren says growing up at Fern Tree was a dream.
“It was fantastic being a teenager in Fern Tree,’’ he says.
“You’ve got all the adventure trails around the place and you know all the community.”
Warren thinks it’s a “cultural mecca’’ for those seeking a lifestyle in nature.
“Most of the blocks on the Huon Road, Summerleas Road, Bracken Lane and Pillinger Road are all of a significant size and it’s not overpriced by any stretch of the imagination,’’ he says.
“You can get involved in the community or enjoy a peaceful, reclusive lifestyle if you’re wanting to do that.”
The property Warren is selling is on the market for the first time since its owners built it in 1983, and it has some unique features alongside its three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
“There’s a lot of windows that don’t have curtains because it’s so damn private,’’ he says.
No.655 Huon Road, Fern Tree, is priced at “Offers over $695,000”.
