TWO parties bid for a california bungalow-style house in Ocean Grove at auction pushing the price above the reserve.
The four-bedroom house at 44 Powell St West sold for $12,000 above reserve for $942,000.
RT Edgar, Ocean Grove agent Brock Grainger said there were a few other buyers in the crowd but they were not at the same level as the two that bid.
The open-plan living area flows out to a covered outdoor entertainment area.

“The buyers are from Melbourne and they plan to initially use it as a holiday house with a view to move down in a few years time,” Mr Grainger said.
“They were attracted to the style of the house and because it was on a large block close to town.”

The large house is on 850sq m of land and is walking distance to the beach, river and shops.
Four bedrooms are positioned off a hallway while the open-plan living area connects to a covered outdoor entertainment area. There is also a second loungeroom.
The property last sold for $790,000 in 2014, according to CoreLogic.
Data shows the median house price in Ocean Grove has increased 12.8 per cent in the past year to $665,500.
