Much like young couples and growing families, older residents are being drawn to stylish new residences hitting the market across Sydney.
In a bid to give seniors the chance to call a contemporary property home, Willowdale Retirement Village in the south west suburb of Denham Court is set to release seven villas this weekend.
Each one has a flowing two-bedroom floorplan and is priced from $565,000. Features include stone benchtops, Fisher and Paykel appliances, at least one bathroom and a private outdoor area.
Ben Austin has sold many properties to the 208 residents within the community and said it was important for them to have a home they could be proud of.
“For a lot of people, when they think of retirement living a home that is old and cramped comes to mind, but when they get here and have a look they overcome that,” Mr Austin said.
“The villas are all spacious and, in terms of design, the need for a wheelchair down the track has been taken into consideration,” he said.
Nestled within Stockland’s Willowdale estate, which won the 2018 Urban Development Institute of Australia’s Best Masterplanned Community award, these single-storey properties are near the existing clubhouse for retirees.
According to village manager Nella Spencer, this central space comes with a swimming pool and a gym to keep residents active.
“It is at the heart of the village and is where residents come together as a community — they can take part in aqua aerobics, get-togethers and have games afternoons,” Ms Spencer said.
The two-bedroom villas will officially hit the market on Friday, when the estate is holding a health and lifestyle expo.
The homes are all expected to be snapped up at the event, which will have complimentary yoga sessions, mini massages and blow dries.
A number of buyers have already expressed their interest in the sleek new dwellings.
