10 The Arena, North Avoca.

AN ORIGINAL beach cottage has recently sold for $230,000 above the reserve at auction.
The property at 10 The Arena, North Avoca, was a beach cottage that had been used as a weekender for 20 years.
“There are very few of these properties left in the area,” agent Carol Jennings from Raine and Horne Terrigal said.

Not a bad spot to enjoy a cup of tea on a Sunday morning.

The property will need some work – the kitchen and bathroom were totally original.

“It was incredibly unusual with the ocean views and a flat walk to the beach. You normally get one or the other, but not both in the same property so this was really special. We had lots of interest from buyers interested in the block for land value, but the buyer intends to try and retain the original cottage.”
Six registered bidders fought for the home which sold under the hammer for $1.25 million.

With more than 50 inspections and attracting buyers both locally and from Sydney, the home ultimately sold to someone with a foot in both camp – a Sydney based buyer who grew up on the Coast.
“This is the second original beach cottage to have sold in North Avoca this month so they are very rare now,” Ms Jennings said.
“The property will need some work, as the kitchen and bathroom were totally original. There is even an outdoor toilet. However, once the styling was done you could really see it as a weekender – it was a really cute beach house.”
