NEIGHBOURS let out a collective sigh of relief after first-home buyers pounced on an original Hamlyn Heights house on a large block with subdivision potential.
The young couple fell in love with the 1970s character of 9 Sheridan St and plan to make only minor changes to the modest two-bedroom home.

Ray White, Lara agent Maddison Boothroyd said they were only party to put their hand up at Saturday’s auction, with other conditional buyers in the crowd unable to bid on the day.
They paid $450,000 for the 810sq m property that’s within walking distance of the Vines Rd shopping precinct.
Ms Boothroyd said the single owner had lived at the brick house since it was built in the 1970s.
“They loved the 1970s look of it and they are going to move in and just do a couple of bits and piece so the neighbours are very happy,” she said.
“It is in super original condition and it has been well maintained.”
The house has a separate loungeroom, dining area and kitchen, with the two bedrooms sharing a central bathroom.
