BUYERS will need deep pockets for an original two-bedroom weekender in Point Lonsdale that hasn’t changed much since it last sold in 1978.

The classic 1950s beach house ‘Arklow’, at 20 Buckleys Rd, is on the market for $1.225 million.

The house is undeniably modest but the real value of the property lies in its 617sq m parcel of land in prized old Point Lonsdale.

Kerleys, Point Lonsdale agent Damian Cayzer said the location was the key attraction of the retro buy.

“It’s just a stroll downhill to the back beach one way and the shopping village in the other direction,” Mr Cayzer said.

“The land size is also a bit larger than average for this sought after pocket of town.

“Some people will find value in the house as a short term weekender, but ultimately the value is in the land and the opportunity to rebuild in a super location.”

The time capsule beach house has a retro kitchen with timber cupboards and yellow bench tops, a loungeroom, dining room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Mr Cayzer said the 1950s beach shack had experienced a revival of popularity in recent times.

“Many are being renovated and extended, combing the retro vintage with today’s mod cons,” he said.
