A YOUNG family from Killara snapped up a beautifully renovated four-bedroom home in Pymble at auction this morning for $3.36 million, beating two downsizers and paying $250,000 above the reserve.
More than 60 people watched and five parties registered as Di Jones auctioneer Joshua Larson called for opening bids on 19 Bannockburn Rd.
Four of them got involved — the young family, two downsizers and another on the phone via an agent — with bidding opening at $2.8 million and rising in $50,000 increments, then $100,000 taking it to $3 million.

There were a couple more $50,000 bids, then it was down to $25,000 offers.
The vendors are the Bloom family, who are upgrading to a home with a tennis court in Turramurra.
The Bannockburn Rd home, which sold through the Di Jones agent Tim Fraser, is on a 765 sqm block.
It last traded for $1.36 million in 2007, with the Blooms doing a major renovation in 2009 and adding the pool.

Mr Larson said it was a tough market on the upper north shore, though he noticed a new wave of spring buyers coming through at today’s auctions.
Meanwhile, a four-bedroom home at 115 Coronation Rd, Baulkham Hills, sold for $860,000.
Ray White’s Daniel Sarzano had been quoting a price guide of $800,000 to $850,000.
He had two registered bidders. After the vendor bid of $850,000, he managed to convince one of the parties to pay $10,000 more.
The property was the second-most viewed property on realestate.com.au up for auction on Saturday.
