A 1950 cottage has broken a street record by becoming the first house on Vaucluse St at Wavell Heights to sell for more than $1 million.
The renovated four-bedroom house at 21 Vaucluse St, sold privately for $1.055 million after a 21 day campaign.
The previous record had been held for almost nine years by 7 Vaucluse St, which sold for $950,000 in 2010.
Harcourts Solutions Mitchelton agent Scott Rumble said the property had been listed at $1.05 million and buyer interest drove the price above expectations.
“The sellers and the buyers are very happy with the result,” Mr Rumble said.
“We had multiple offers on the property and we were pretty confident with where the market sat.”
He said the home had similar features to others in the area, but the quality of the renovation and finishings gave it a competitive edge.
“The local family who bought it were just looking for a house to accommodate them but nothing too big,” he said.
“It was the house that drew them to this area, not the geographic location.”
