Doing it for the kids.

A Henley bestseller will be auctioned on Good Friday to raise money for Victoria’s sick kids.

The Sahara 38, which has been built on land donated by Villawood Properties at Delaray estate, in Clyde North, is set to go under the hammer as part of the annual Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal Charity Home Auction.

The double-storey residence is the volume builder’s most in-demand new-home design and, according to Henley chief executive John Harvey, a fitting choice given its family-friendly focus and popular buyer appeal.

“Function and luxury combine seamlessly at the Sahara to create a home that offers the best of both worlds for active families — a place that’s designed for rest and play,” Mr Harvey said.

Stylish modern living.

Plenty of space for indoor-outdoor entertaining.

A great cause.

Among the key features making the Sahara so sought after is a palatial main bedroom with a lavish ensuite and a private balcony, not to mention a dressing room that’s as big as a bedroom.

“It will become your private hideaway, somewhere you can recharge the batteries,” Mr Harvey said.

The main bedroom is smartly zoned upstairs along with three other bedrooms, a central bathroom, a powder room and a generous leisure area.

The latter is one of multiple internal living areas the family can enjoy in addition to the home’s grand covered alfresco area.

The alfresco area is accessed through sliding stacker doors off the ground-floor living and dining spaces. The door design allows for a seamless connection between indoors and out.

Mr Harvey said the Sahara’s layout provided each family member with their own space, but also featured areas that brought families together, including a fun theatre room and an open-plan living zone.

Or study.

There’s also a large study privately positioned at the front of the house that could become an extra bedroom given the ground-floor powder room also has a shower.

A state-of-the-art kitchen adjoins the main living and dining area and is close to the alfresco area.

Among the kitchen’s many highlights are Caesarstone benchtops, soft-close drawers and cabinetry doors, a 622-litre fridge, a microwave, and extra-large stainless-steel Smeg appliances including double wall ovens, a gas cooktop and freestanding dishwasher.

The kitchen also has a large fitted butler’s pantry.

Mr Harvey said storage was carefully considered to match the needs of growing families. And there’s lots of it, including multiple linen cupboards and an under-stair store room.

The lucky bidder will even get to keep all the furniture and decor items inside the auction house, including three 55-inch televisions, wall art and nursery pieces.

A statement in a new area.

Adding to the home’s comfort and convenience is a Jetmaster fireplace, window coverings, a handy vacuum chute in the kitchen, ducted heating, refrigerated cooling and a security system.

Other standout features include a generous laundry, timber-look floors, premium carpet and tiled wet areas, as well as decking, turf, plants, an exposed aggregate driveway, fences, a letterbox and an irrigation system.

Boasting plenty of street appeal, the Sahara 38 has a modern facade comprised of white cladding, dark-coloured bricks and soft-grey render, topped with a Colorbond roof.

“It’s an ideal family home for the winning bidder in a wonderful emerging community and ready to move in immediately,” Mr Harvey said.

The charity house is built on a 549sq m block at Delaray estate, one of Villawood Properties’ most sought after developments, and is less than 100m from Club Delaray, which has a gym, multiple pools, tennis court, cafe, community garden, playground and library.

Villawood Properties executive director Rory Costelloe said whoever bought the house also had access to this exclusive residents’ club, one of the major reasons people wanted to live at the development.

“Our projects create connected communities, and the residents’ club supports this through encouraging social interaction, community engagement and physical health and fitness,” Mr Costelloe said.
