GEELONG musician Imogen Brough and star alpine skier Mitch Gourley have bought their first home at auction in East Geelong.
The couple were excited when Buxton auctioneer Jarrod Leonard knocked down the renovated two-bedroom cottage at 58 Anderson St to them for $638,000 at the auction involving three other bidders.

Mr Gourley’s aunt, a real estate agent, stood across the road to bid on their behalf at Saturday’s auction, which attracted a crowd of about 50 people.

They entered the auction when the price hit $620,000 and the property was declared on the market.
“It’s been a lot of Saturday mornings and a lot of houses,” Mr Gourley said.
“It’s nice to finally get one over the line.”
The couple had been in the market for some time without success, he said.
“We’ve bid on about two or three homes already and we’ve been a little short, but we’ve found the right place,” he said.

Ms Brough said they loved the original features of the renovated timber home with Art Deco features.
“We like the original features and it’s a nice street in East Geelong,” she said.
A new kitchen and bathroom were installed in the two-bedroom house in April this year as part of a renovation that has highlighted the period features of the home, including timber wall panels, picture rails and windows and period light fittings.

The 409sq m block also has rear lane access.
Mr Leonard said the majority of interest in the home had come from young couples, including from Melbourne, who were keen to secure their first home.
“It’s a brilliant opportunity in the heart of East Geelong,” Mr Leonard said.
“It’s been lovingly restored and renovated with a beautiful kitchen and bathroom.
“It’s exceedingly comfortable in what we still consider one of the best parts of East Geelong.”
Ms Brough appeared on The Voice in 2013 and has released singles including Heart and Love is Like a Match, while Mr Gourley has competed at three Winter Paralympics and claimed a World Championship gold medal in Italy in 2017.
