The penthouse is massive 350sqm on title.
McGrath Crows Nest’s Peter Chauncy said it was a great result for a property located in the well known “The Forum” building.
Sitting on the 35th floor, it is the largest residence in the building. Besides its north aspect, the apartment has Harbour Bridge and skyline views.
Mr Chauncy said it was incredibly rare to find a penthouse like this in St Leonards.
“You might only see one or two apartments with such a large footprint come up for sale in a year,” he said.
There is several different outdoor balconies and terraces.
The dining room has sweeping views from the Heads to the Blue Mountains.
The two-storey penthouse had four bedrooms, three bathrooms and parking for four cars. It was last traded in 2001 for $2.040 million.
The north shore had a 61 per cent clearance with 20 of 33 reported auctions either selling prior or on the day.
This pegs the north shore above the Sydney-wide clearance rate of 52.47 per cent.
