This kitsch 1970s home in Perth’s oceanfront suburb of City Beach will have you stepping back in time.

The 1970s house has some of the best views in City Beach. Picture:

Set on a 1343sqm block, the three-storey residence at 6 Banool Crescent has remarkably been held in the same family since it was built in 1971, retaining many of its original features.

“You’ve got to see it to believe it. It is just incredible,” says selling agent Emma Milner, from Ray White Dalkeith-Claremont.

“The furniture is literally as if you’re stepping back into how it would have been in the 1970s.

“It’s the furniture, it’s the wallpaper, it’s the timber-lined ceilings, it’s the cork lookalike wallpaper that lines the walls, the bamboo behind the bar – it’s amazing.”

Imagine the parties that would have happened in this room! Picture:

From built-in timber cabinetry, to raked Redwood timber ceilings and mosaic floor tiles, the three bedroom, three bathroom home still has key hallmarks of its era.

Additional features include a sunroom, upstairs lounge, television room and separate study. There is also a swimming pool with a poolside bathroom and alfresco access, as well as a cocktail bar and sunset balcony.

The current furniture gives buyers an ides of what is possible within the space. Picture:

Unique features also include a pulley-system dumbwaiter between the first floor and undercroft garage.

Set back on the block, the home offers an overwhelming sense of spaciousness with 220 degree vistas from the second storey, with views from Reabold Hill to Rottnest Island.

“It looks toward the ocean in such an elevated position, you feel like you’re just on top of the hill,” Milner says.

The home has been very well maintained throughout the years. Picture:

“Joan, who owned the house with her husband, wrote little notes with facts about the house, which have all been kept by her family. She noted that in December 1981, the concrete slab was poured for the second storey of the home and the views are absolutely insane – I would think they are some of the best views in City Beach.”

The property will be auctioned on November 23 at 11am.
