Sydney family strikes it lucky with Newtown house

A SYDNEY family relocating to Geelong for work has finally secured a house in desirable Newtown after a frustrating search.

Buxton, agent Ben Riddle said they paid $1.075 million to secure a beautiful character house at 74 Noble St after auction on Saturday.

“They are moving from Sydney and have missed out on a couple,” Mr Riddle said.

“They are a family and just liked the fact it was quality home and it was still in the school zone.”

Despite strong interest, there was only one bidder for the five-bedroom house on auction day when it passed in for $1.010 million.

The busy location, near the corner of Pakington St, could have been a factor but Mr Riddle told the crowd they could expect to pay more for the same house in a quieter street nearby.

He said the address offered the lifestyle benefits of living close to the nearby cafe strip and GMHBA Stadium.

The two-storey weatherboard house has been extended to include an open-plan rear living area with views over a deck and private family-friendly back garden.

The first floor is home to the main bedroom suite with a balcony, a second living area and bonus roof storage.
