Keith fears for contestants safety.
THE CHALLENGE apartment turns into a danger-zone on The Block, and Keith fears someone could be seriously injured — or die — if things aren’t sorted out fast.
With so many teams and trades working together in the one space, Keith and Dan are loving their elevated importance as they get to boss between 70 and 80 tradies in one confined space.
With everyone trying to work over the top of each other — ripping up floors and pulling down walls — it’s getting noisy, messy and out of control.
The challenge apartment is a danger zone this week.
“It’s carnage,” Keith says, before pointing out one part of the site and labelling it as “death”.
“You fall through there, you’re gone.”
Keith can’t bare to look at some of the demolition work being done and shuts down the site, and calls everyone together to tell them how things should be done.
He runs a tight ship, and has clearly has some lofty KPIs.
“No one is going to die on The Block,” he says.
While Jess is out shopping, Norm wakes up with some serious back issues.
He’s in more pain than Hayden is at treasurer (by more on that later).
An osteopath is called to get Norm back on track, and one ad break later he’s right as rain.
“If he went to the osteopath as often as he went for a beer across the road, he would be the most nimble man on the planet,” Jess tells us.
It was short-lived.
The struggle is real
Hayden’s been making a mess of the treasury job since Sara volunteered him to the role.
So, now, she’s called a meeting — without him — to unvolunteer him.
When Hayden gets wind of the meeting, he stops by to see what’s going on.
“Are you aware that you’ve resigned?” Jess asks him.
Sara clarifies things, and who wears the pants in the relationship: “I resigned on behalf of him.”
Everyone else is thinking the same thing: “the poor guy”.
Hayden leaves — to do some project managing — and Jess is appointed the new treasurer, with Bianca as her 2IC.
Loving the power.
Carla and Norm are officially the first ladies.
The new treasurers waste no time fixing up affairs, and bartering the electrician down to some more competitive rates.
Hayden and Sara begin to realise that handing over the wallet to their competitors might not end well for them.
“I would have preferred to have the power,” Hayden tells Sara.
To which Sara replies “I screwed us over then, whatever blame me”.
He’s a busy man.
All hands on deck
With the loading bay full of materials for the new apartment it is all hands on deck to move some stuff up in the apartment.
Everyone swings into action to clear everything up, everyone except Hayden that is.
Bianca and Norm immediately notice they’re one man short and start to take the p*ss of the project manager.
“He’s done nothing, he’s been on his phone the whole time,” they complain, while holding mock phones to their ears.
In the spotlight.
Sara sees them and doesn’t see the funny side.
“You guys are taking the p*ss out of him,” she astutely points out.
“She was just being a smartar*e,” she complains to us.
“Shut up, you look like an idiot,” she screams.
