”It’s all good” on The Block.
IT’S nearing the end of the competition and the Blockheads are nearly as Blocked out as we are.
Everyone is exhausted, except Hayden — which seems fair because we haven’t seen him lift a hammer yet.
While others aren’t fairing so well, he leaps out of bed in Rocky-style singing Eye Of The Tiger
Upstairs in apartment five, Carla has a migraine — from all the shopping and styling — so she’s staying in bed, and next door Norm has the trots.
OPEN FOR INSPECTIONS
Before any renovating gets started, the couples have a chance to check out their neighbours rooms.
First up is Norm and Jess’s master bedroom. Bianca and Hayden both stopped to look at the display of pictures of the Blockheads on the entrance wall and said they liked it.
Spence agreed with the judges regarding the size of the furniture being too small.
But said “they did well in the conditions”.
Liking the happy snaps.
The second room to be inspected is Kerrie and Spence’s guest bedroom.
The Blockheads agree the wallpaper is scary. And we’re treated to something even scarier — Kerrie repeatedly saying it’s a cowboy not a clown.
They agree the couple have flawless execution as always.
Courtney thought the judges were “really harsh”.
The third room to be critiqued is Bianca and Carla’s third-place ensuite.
Spence loved their tiles, and joked the only thing missing was a scary clown.
Hayden said “good job girls”.
Next room on the walk-arounds was Hayden and Sara’s second place main bathroom.
Jess said she thought they’d done a great job and echoed the judges in saying she thought it was the best they’ve done in the competition so far.
Bianca liked their tiles and Courtney labelled the room “understated elegance”.
Finally it was time for the winning room — Courtney and Hans’ guest bedroom.
Sara loved the room and Hayden complemented Courtney’s styling abilities.
Kerrie loved the bed styling and wallpaper and Bianca said she was glad they won, saying “this is the best” room.
TIME TO PLAN
While Norm is upstairs having “a bit of a vomit”, Jess is downstairs with everyone else planning their spaces for this week.
“The only thing the judges liked last week was a neon flamingo,” she said.
So, this week she’s going with a neon pink slogan on the wall — “it’s all good”.
She tries to explain the many times this is used everyday by Aussies.
“Mate, it’s all good,” is one example.
“Maybe it’ll be all good,” is another she comes up with.
And when she can’t think of many more she concedes it may be their undoing this week, but she’s going for it anyway.
Meanwhile Kerrie and Spence think they have a secret weapon that will beat the other teams — particularly Hans and Courtney who scored the kitchen.
They’re putting in a piano on their terrace.
“Kitchen smitchen, this piano is bitchin’”, she says, and instantly regrets.
WILL HAYDEN SAY YES?
Hayden has been slammed in recent weeks for not doing much and for not being a team player.
So when Bianca has to ask a favour — to do with adding a nib wall where their spaces join — she’s clearly worried about what the response will be.
After talking up the conversation she finally approaches him and discovers “it’s all good” as long as it’s no extra work for him.
He reckons “it’s all good”
Norm thinks “maybe it’s all good”.
Kerrie and Spence’s scary clown laneway wasn’t “all good”.
SHOW ME THE MONEY
Jess volunteered last week to be treasurer — after Sara unvolunteered Hayden.
And now she’s regretting it.
She’s convinced Hayden and Sara have gone over budget, saying they had way too many tradies there to be able to have gotten the job done under-budget.
“That raised alarm bells,” she said. “There’s no way on green earth they could be under budget.’
She’s also learning that “the treasury job doesn’t pay very well.”
“I’ve got a hunch they’ve gone over,” she says.
Eventually she discovers they are $8k under and phones Sara to tell her.
“That doesn’t sound right,” Sara says.
And we fear this might not be the last we hear of this.
