Behind its unassuming factory facade lies a TV boss’s hideaway from the world.
IT’S showtime in Balaclava with the listing of Roving Enterprises co-owner and The Project creator Craig Campbell’s converted warehouse.
His first home, Mr Campbell bought the three-bedroom, double-storey property at 7 Balston St in 1994 and has since given it a few updates to make it a perfect space to entertain from.

“I have really fond memories of the place, have had some great wrap parties there,” Mr Campbell said.
“And have done some big deals in the place.
“It’s been my little sanctuary for so long, so it’s nice to know that it’s there for someone else to enjoy.”
With its high walls and greenery, even the courtyard at the rear is hidden from the world.
A range of materials used throughout the home creates a warm, industrial feel to it.
He’s not joking about it being a sanctuary.
Sliding doors open to a green but extremely private courtyard at the rear for summer, and the home’s striking interiors — including a cosy fireplace for winter — are all hidden behind an unassuming brick factory-wall facade.
He’s been able to invite famous faces over across the years without anyone being the wiser.
“I have had a few famous faces through it,” Mr Campbell said.
“And that really appealed about the place — you could bring those people over and no one would know.”
The kitchen inside the home has plated up meals for a range of famous faces over the years.
The double-storey residence has its share of exposed brickwork to remind buyers of its industrial heritage.
While it’s hard to say goodbye after so long at the home, he’s pleased to see the rest of the world has caught up with the merits of repurposed living spaces in the meantime.
“When I got into it, warehouse living hadn’t taken off as much as it has today,” Mr Campbell said.
Marshall White’s Fiona Ansell-Jones is handling the sale and said it was a rarity for the suburb.
“It could be decades to see something like this again,” Ms Ansell-Jones said.
“There are four warehouse conversions in the building and this is the biggest.
“It’s like a double-storey, single-fronted home without the garden maintenance.”
The upper level makes for a great perch to settle in for a night in front of the silver screen.
A combination of polished stone, timber floors, exposed bricks and steel combined to create a warm industrial feel, she said
The location has also matured to a little known but desirable pocket of Melbourne between the city and the beach with a cosmopolitan mix of cafes and shops along nearby Carlisle St.
It has already caught the interest of a number of buyers.
“There’s certainly some interest at this stage,” Ms Ansell-Jones said.
It has a $2.6-$2.8 million asking price and goes to auction on October 27 at 2.30pm.
