THE vendors of a Bridgeman Downs mansion have made $550,000 in eight years after their property sold at auction this month.
The six-bedroom mansion at 65 Tiverton Place, sold under the hammer for $2.25 million.
Ray White Pelican Waters agent Kerri Johnston was working out of her region to sell the 1.04 hectare property for long term clients who also have property on the Sunshine Coast.
The auction had three registered bidders, two from Brisbane and one from Toowoomba, and bidding opened at just under $2 million before a crowd of around 30.
It was last on the market in 2010 where CoreLogic data shows it sold for $1.7 million.
Ms Johnston said the vendors were aware that the older house, built in the 1990s, needed work and this was reflected in the auction result.
“Everyone who came through understood that too,” she said.
“It was really good value.”
The home had a seventh bedroom or teenager’s retreat, and a coach house for three car accommodation.
Large homes on prestige-sized blocks, whether in Bridgeman Downs or the Sunshine Coast, offer opportunities for buyers, she said.
“They’re older houses, you’ll find newer homes are on smaller blocks.”
