two tiny homes to go under the hammer in marrickville

This tiny home could be yours.

IF living larger isn’t exactly for you, these two tiny homes could be the perfect solution.
Just over 4m long and nearly 2m wide, the tiny homes are being auctioned off by charity Bower on November 10 to raise money for environmental and social issues.
They are built from reclaimed materials sourced mainly from demolition yards, making them a sustainable housing option.

The interiors have been left bare, giving buyers with a bit of imagination the opportunity to transform them into a home, office, workshop or outdoor studio.
Builder James Galletly said it takes around six weeks to assemble each home, but the effort was worth it to promote sustainable living.
“There is definitely a niche within society — they fit within the housing mix and there are a lot of people seriously interested in using them to live in,” he said.

It is made of recycled materials.

They were most appealing to single people who want to live outside the norm or need more freedom, as well as being a great option for those looking to transition from renting to ownership, Mr Galletly added. Each house cost around $5,000 to assemble, excluding labour, while both come with a $5,000 trailer to allow for easy transport.
They are also waterproof and insulated, with enough room for water storage or solar panels. The tiny homes are just one item going under the hammer on November 10 at Marrickville’s Addison Rd Community centre.

Around 100 other quirky objects, like retro furniture, a grandfather clock dating back to 1791 and an antique row of seats originally from the Sydney Theatre Company, are all up for grabs.
The homes were built as part of a workshop developed by the Bower that teaches those interested how to build their own tiny home.
