1 Amanda Cres, Venus Bay has a surprisingly affordable asking price.

Looking for a beach getaway that won’t break your budget?

A tiny “love shack” in Venus Bay with an “adventurous” colour palette has hit the market with a $289,000 asking price.

It’s even cheaper than Melbourne’s $350,000 median for a one-bedroom apartment, according to latest figures.

PBE Real Estate director Colleen Reeves said with a cosy yellow and blue interior, character timber facade and an orange caravan out the front as part of the deal, they had dubbed the home at 1 Amanda Cres “the love shack”.

The orange caravan out the front is included with the home.

“It’s just a tiny little cottage that’s a great getaway for a couple, and that was the name we threw around,” Ms Reeves said.

“People like to be a little adventurous in their beach house, and when it’s bright it helps people feel like they are away from home.”

Listed for sale late last week, it was already attracting suitors, she said.

The kitchen has decorative curtains in place of cupboards for an added touch of character.

It features two loft-style bedrooms upstairs, as well as an extra bedroom space in the caravan out front, which means there’s room to share the love — or turn the home into an Airbnb.

A mosaic tile bathroom and splashbacks in the kitchen add to the character.

Venus Bay is a short drive from Inverloch to Melbourne’s southeast — just over two hours from the city — and the house is within earshot of the surf at No. 3 Beach.

A pair of loft-style bedrooms upstairs add to its appeal for holiday accommodation.

While homes in the coastal hamlet don’t have access to mains water, the suburb’s median house price is just $330,000 — less than half Melbourne’s $720,000 figure.
