A YOUNG local couple are thrilled to have secured their first home in Highton at auction.
Two parties bid for 203 Mt Pleasant Rd with the hammer coming down at $627,000.
Buyer Alice Crowley said it was very nerve-racking watching her dad bid on their behalf but was thrilled with the result.
“We will be moving in and enjoying it,” Ms Crowley said.

Bidding started at $610,000, it was called on the market at $620,000 and after a total of 11 bids from the two parties it sold.
Barry Plant, Highton agent Kieron Hunter said this property was “all about the location”.
“It is a short distance up the hill to local shops and a short distance down the hill to Highton Village, it is a really good spot,” Mr Hunter said.
“It attracted a range of buyers as it is a flat corner block, it could have suited developers too.”
The three-bedroom brick veneer house is on 820sq m of land, which leaves potential to subdivide, subject to council approval.
The house has an open-plan kitchen, meals are and loungeroom that overlook a leafy garden, the main bedroom has an ensuite while the rear bedroom has access outside to an entertainment deck.
The median house price in Highton has increased 7.7 per cent in the past year to $670,000, according to CoreLogic.
