The rezoning of Sydney suburbs Arncliffe and Banksia has been finalised in a bid to support greater Sydney’s growing population.
The Bayside West precincts are located 10-12 kilometres south of Sydney’s CBD and west of Sydney’s Airport.
Department of Planning’s Brett Whitworth said the rezoning of these suburbs ensures the Bayside West 2036 Plan, announced last month, will now be implemented.
“Any building over three storeys will be subject to the Council’s design review panel and any building over 12 storeys will need to go through a design competition process,” Whitworth said.
“A mix of 3,900 homes, from apartments, townhouses and terraces, to freestanding homes will provide greater choice, including around 600 social, affordable and private homes to be built on the NSW Land and Housing Corporation site at Eden Street.”
